Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Preheat Oven & Prep Pan
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Sauté Onions & Brown Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat:
- Heat olive oil.
- Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes, until soft and translucent.
- Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook 6–8 minutes, until fully browned.
- Drain excess fat if desired.
3. Season the Filling
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook 2–3 minutes more, stirring, to let flavors meld.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly—warm (not hot) filling prevents dough from melting.
4. Unroll & Prepare Dough
- On a clean surface, unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles.
- If your dough has perforated rectangles, cut along lines to create triangles.
5. Fill & Fold the Pockets
For each triangle:
- Spoon 2–3 tbsp beef mixture onto the wide end.
- Sprinkle with 1–2 tbsp shredded cheddar.
- Optional: Add a tiny piece of pickle.
- Lift the two corners of the wide end and fold over the filling toward the tip.
- Gently roll up, sealing the filling inside.
- Pinch the seam and ends tightly to prevent leaks.
Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving 1 inch between pockets.
6. Bake Until Golden & Crispy
- Bake 12–15 minutes, until:
- Crescents are deep golden brown
- Edges are crisp
- Filling is hot
7. Cool & Serve
- Let rest 3–5 minutes—this helps set the filling and prevents burns.
- Serve warm.
Enjoy as:
- A standalone meal
- With dipping sauces (ketchup, mustard, ranch)
- Alongside coleslaw, fries, or a green salad
You Must Know
- Cool filling slightly —hot beef melts cheese too fast and makes dough soggy.
- Seal tightly —pinched seams prevent bursting during baking.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan —airflow ensures crispiness.
- Tastes better the next day! Reheats beautifully in oven or air fryer.
- Freezer-friendly —cool completely and freeze before or after baking.
Storage Tips
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- Reheat in oven at 375°F for 8–10 minutes (best texture). Microwave works but may soften crust.
- Freeze unbaked or baked: Wrap tightly and freeze up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen (+2–3 mins).
